Chromium is very helpful in controlling hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Usage has been reported as 200 to 800 mcg daily in divided dosages. It has also been reported as helpful in diabetic control of blood sugar in the same doses as above.
When starting chromium for blood sugar issues, start with 400 mcg twice a day. After a month, an attempt may be made to taper the dosage. If you are taking it for low blood sugar, you may taper the dose down to 200 mcg per day, depending on your symptoms. If you are taking it for diabetes, ask your physician to give you feedback on how well it is helping in order to determine your maintenance dose.
